Morgan & Main was founded in the year 2000 by Lawrence "Mort" Morton, a fifth generation carpenter and expert refinisher. Mort has been in business since 1983, when he opened Mort's Furniture Restoration. In 1993 Mort moved to Stillman Valley as Morton's Furniture Refinishing. Finally, in 2000, Mort found the current 16,000 square foot building on the corner of Morgan Street and South Main, allowing for a much higher volume of work as well as much larger projects. Morgan & Main Enterprises, the final incarnation of Mort's dream, was born.
Two years after purchasing our current building Mort chose to purchase Don Eisler's Cabinet Door Company and Olson's Wood Turning.
This has allowed Morgan & Main to complete the entire cabinet making process in-house with great efficiency. These purchases have also allowed Mort to offer even lower prices than before. From stripping and sanding to building and finishing, Morgan & Main has the means to cover all of your woodworking needs. Choosing only to hire the highest caliber of craftsmen, Morgan & Main currently employs three master craftsmen and three apprentices with a combined experience of over 130 years.
Since the opening of Morgan & Main there have been many additions. Besides Olson's Wood Turning, which we have just recently sold most of to a company in Queensland, Australia, and Don Eisler's Door Company, these additions include: our corner building 1103 S. Main and a U-haul dealership in our 321 Morgan Street building. 1103 S. Main is one of our prized possessions. It has had many tenants but is now home to a store called Urban Fabulous. After we did a complete remodel to the inside of the building and Urban Fabulous moved in they have had non-stop business. They signed a five year contract.
A Part of the Family Morgan & Main is a family business. Whether you have contracted us to do some work or are just curious about our facilities, we humbly invite you into our home. Each customer is introduced to the staff, including our four dogs, Jake, Ditto, Red and Angel, and given a tour of the shop. This allows no unfamiliarity's and complete knowledge of how your work will be manufactured, finished or restored in-house. Morgan & Main works hard to suit all your needs. To us wood-working is not just a profession, it is a passion.
